Send your proposal to: The Khyber Selection Committee Contact: Khyber Selection Committee The Khyber gratefully thanks The Canada Council for the Arts for their support Guidelines for Alternative Spaces: The Alternative Spaces at the Khyber Centre for the Arts exist for artists to show works-in-progress, formulate ideas for future work, show a concise body of work, and gain experience in a formal gallery setting. The Alt Spaces inside the Khyber building include, according to availabilty, the Closet Gallery and its anterooms, the Residence Gallery (across from the Turret Room at the front of the building), the Skylight/Staircase Gallery, the Frame Gallery, and the Vitrine Gallery (lockable display box outside the building). As well, we encourage proposals for Alternative Spaces that may exist outside the confines of the Khyber building. This might include a community bike ride (such as the Aeolian Ride), a public performance installation or a double dutch competition. Alternative Spaces shows open on the same night as main space (Ballroom Gallery) shows and will be co-promoted. Artists are reponsible for producing invitations and any other media for their show. Artists are also responsible for returning the space to its original condition. Unfortunately artists fees cannot be paid for Alternative Space exhibitions at this time. For more information about exhibiting in an Alternative Space, or to submit a proposal, please contact Francesca, Khyber Alternative Spaces Coordinator.
