Through a process of collecting and making objects which represented flowers and other botanical forms, Donna Akrey and Barbara Lounder created a three-dimensional, floor-to-skylight tangle of blossoms and vines for this installation. This floral extravaganza explored the possibilities of creating a space which is cultivated yet uncontrollably blooming.

Akrey and Lounder share an interest in of-the-moment ways of making art, using found and non-precious materials. Both have worked collaboratively in the past, with other artists, and have worked together informally this past year. Their work generally falls into the category of "assemblage," which is a method and approach based on refreshing differences and conjunctions.
