The Khyber's Fourth Annual Fool-Hearted Gala took place on April 26th, and once again the evening showcased a unique mix of entertainment and art from some of the country's hottest emerging artists.

The gala was hosted by the fabulous Dita Parlow and was held on all three floors of the Khyber Building. The Fourth Annual Fool-Hearted Gala featured many popular local musicians including Al Tuck, the Johnson Sisters, Tyler Messick & the Museum Pieces; The Wearable Art show flaunted exciting designs from many students in NSCAD's fashion department (and also included Burlesque Dancers); and a contemporary contact improv performance by Sally Morgan and Gamaliel Lodge.

The Fool-Hearted Gala was presented by CBC Radio-Canada and supported by the Coast Halifax's Weekly; the Daily News; CKDU 97.5 FM; Allegra Print and Imaging; Avis Car and Truck Rentals and Garrison Brewing Co.

The Fool-Hearted Gala is an annual fundraiser that helps the Khyber continue its innovative programming year round.

The Khyber is an artist-run centre and a registered Charitable Society with Revenue Canada. The Khyber boasts a strong volunteer base, serving both the local arts community and the community at large. The historic downtown building, built in 1888, has been home to artists and various cultural groups since 1994, including the Khyber Digital Media Centre, a CAP-funded digital media centre that provides public computer and Internet access, and which recently won the 2003 Aliant New Media Prize. The Khyber is renowned for its gallery and exhibition space highlighting local and international artists, and for Khyber Kids - its successful program of art classes for children. The Khyber is a meeting place for art-makers and an interested public, giving a strong cultural presence to the HRM. top
