Kei Takemura | To Remember The Past More
Exacly
July 28 - August 23
Opening Reception July 28, 7pm
Kei Takemura's intent is to make visible the memory of two rooms, both
of which were inhabited by relatives or friends but are now vacated or
destroyed. Takemura uses life-sized drawing as an aid to remember more
information of past situations as she engages in the process of remembering.
To augment her recollections of these spaces Takemura has asked the former
residents to describe their own memories of the rooms, which Takemura
then
sews into the drawing. Sewing takes time‹through this action Takemura
can retain the missed information in her head and hands. She will adapt
her work to the particular spaces of the Closet, Frame, and Stairwell
of the Khyber Building.
