Wouldn't It Be (Ice Ice) is an installation comprised of three elements:
drawings, a video, and some small sculptural works (props from the video.
The video is what Bethune-Leamen describes as a "lo-fi redux"
of a television program of the same name, in which a New York based DJ
talks to other hip-hop musicians about low-rider cars. As in her other
works, with Ride (with Funkmaster Flex), Bethune-Leamen explores the relationship
between the pleasures of popular culture and the (often more abstract)
pleasures afforded by contemporary art.
